On October 10, World Mental Health Day, the community will come together at 6:30 am for "Walk with One Mind," a walk organised by Liat Youth Animation Centre in association with Santhwana Rehabilitation Centre, Puthenthopu.

The event carries the message "Together for Mental Health, Dignity and Inclusion." It is meant to remind people that mental health is a shared responsibility, and that no one should have to face emotional struggles alone or in silence.

Why this walk matters

Mental health conditions touch people of every age, background and walk of life, yet stigma still stops many from asking for help. Fear of judgement, lack of awareness and misconceptions keep too many people quiet about their pain. Young people, who face pressure from studies, careers, relationships and social media, are especially affected.

"Walk with One Mind" answers this with something simple and visible: people of all ages walking side by side in support of one another. The green ribbon, the international symbol of mental health awareness, stands at the heart of the campaign.

Three ideas at the core

Mental health. Emotional well-being is as important as physical health. The walk encourages open conversations about stress, anxiety, depression and other challenges, and about seeking help early.

Dignity. Every person, including those living with mental health conditions or in recovery, deserves respect, compassion and understanding.

Inclusion. A caring society makes room for everyone. By walking together, participants show that those facing mental health difficulties are welcomed, not set apart.

The organisers

Liat Youth Animation Centre works to engage and empower young people. Santhwana Rehabilitation Centre, Puthenthopu, brings its experience in care and rehabilitation. Together they hope to raise awareness and strengthen community support.
